GREETINGS FROM THE SUB-ARCTIC!
A new dill salad and the thrill of the chase
I always struggle for a subject line that’s catchy because you need to see pictures of Stanley! But I did buy a new ready-made salad mix from Costco – dill salad. It was glorious! I added a few pickles, too, because I love pickles. I’ve also learned that my food portion is “Feeds a family of four.”
This picture is Stanley not wanting to go in the direction I wanted him to go. He preferred going up the hill behind him where we had seen two moose the previous day. He just wants to look at them.
Neither one of us were paying attention. I was walking with my head down, watching my step and trying to get my breath back after climbing the hill. Then I saw movement, and there they were: A cow with a calf on the other side of her about thirty feet from us. The calf ran off and the cow joined her. Stanley was fine not reacting until they ran off, and then he wanted to run with them. I only had to tell him to stay and he did, although he really wanted to chase. And now, in this picture, he wants to go back and look for the moose instead of walking on the trail away from where we saw those “really big dogs.”
Heavy Lies the Crown – a new Ernie Dempsey Thriller
Perfect for thriller readers who have a Kindle Unlimited subscription. It says the fourth book, but it can be read as a standalone. Ernie confirmed this for me.

Trouble is coming to the London underworld.
For a job that came out of the blue, this latest gig could keep former Delta Force operator Dak Harper in the black for quite a while.
On his way to London to track a crazed former colonel who wants the ex-Special Forces commando dead, Dak is diverted by an urgent request from his employer, a thirteen-year-old multimillionaire with a passion for antiquities.
Dak’s new assignment? Find the fabled Welsh Crown, a mysterious thirteenth-century artifact that’s been missing for centuries. Whether originally stolen by scoundrel or sovereign, the crown now rests in the grimy little hands of one of London’s seediest would-be gang lords.

What’s next? Battleship Leviathan 5 – Leviathan Rises! The first draft of this is finished at 97,000 words, about 10k words longer than the four previous titles in the series. If you want to see it as it takes shape or any of my books that I’m working on before the general public sees them (usually a month or three before release), then join my Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/craigmartelle
And then JJE16 – Succession.
Rivka has to deal with a downloaded consciousness and his heirs in a murder mystery versus sentience where everyone has something to lose. We’re going to release this one early – Coming August 25.
Succession is fast-paced, with lots of action along with gripping cerebral fare.
I’m finished with Battleship Leviathan #6 – Leviathan’s Fear, the final book in the Battleship Leviathan series. It came in just shy of 80k words, but it wraps the storyline and the series. I hope you like how it turned out. This one will release in October.
