Greetings from the Sub-Arctic!
Still cold. Business as usual. Stanley gets extra blankets. His hair isn’t growing in thickly enough, quickly enough. It’s 63F in my office as the thermostat in the hallway is set to 70. There’s a second thermostat about fifteen feet down the hallway toward the living room and another about ten feet away in the master bedroom. They overlap so the middle thermostat thinks it’s warmer than it is in the bedrooms (one of which is my office).
Then there’s Alaskan winter logistics. We have to go to a pump outside of Fox, AK to get our drinking water. It’s some of the best water anywhere, but it’s a manual fill. And with the cold temperatures, we were burning through our pellets too quickly. We went to get water and did an emergency restock on the pellet fuel, too. My friend Alex did the heavy lifting on both ends and that helped me immensely, as I don’t breathe too well when it’s that cold outside (it’s -27F as I write this).
There’s our stash – over half a ton of pellets and about 75 gallons of drinking water. We’ll restock the drinking water in about a month so we never go below about forty gallons on hand.
Keep reading to the bottom because there’s a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card (I gave away a $50 gift card on Black Friday to Victoria Wagner – congratulations!) just to thank you for reading my newsletter 🙂

Heretic (Zenophobia #1).
IT IS LIVE & only 99 cents!
An anthropomorphic space opera: Think Island of Dr. Moreau meets Indiana Jones in space. A ragtag band of enemies on a search for the Truth.
Where did the Zenomorphs come from?
Tigers, wolves, gorillas, and bears. Four planets at each other’s throats. But they have too much in common for it to be a fluke. Just mentioning the possibility that they descended from the same place gets one labeled as a Heretic.
When Sankar comes into possession of a religious text that hints at where they came from, he seizes the opportunity and makes it his mission to find the Truth.
But he needs help from all the races. With a stolen warship and a ragtag band of criminals, Sankar sets out to answer the question that is illegal to ask.
Zenophobia. Where fear of the other races started a religion and perpetuated a war.
It’s time for the worlds to embrace the future by learning their past. But the governments aren’t keen on upsetting the status quo and do everything in their power to stop Sankar and his team.
Island of Dr. Moreau meets Indiana Jones, in space, with cutting edge technology…

The Expanding Universe 7 – On sale now for 99 cents for one more day. Get it before it is gone (unpublishes on December 11th).
Explore the universe…
“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” Arthur C Clarke penned those words, and they stand true to this day. Do we want to be alone?
Leave it to science fiction authors to address that question in equal measure.
Aliens can be peaceful or not. Who will emerge as the superior strain of intelligence? Humanity may be new to the game, but they aren’t new to conflict.
Fantastic races vying for dominance. A microcosm of the greater good. Battles fought for higher ideals. Battles fought just to survive.
War doesn’t care about human or alien. The soldiers fight, and they fight hard, as if their lives depend on it.
Because they do.
