Hard are the lips of the woodpecker
Greetings from the Sub-Arctic!
We don’t have plastic great white sharks in Alaska – I took this abominable selfie while in Florida.
I’m back home! Finally. I’m tired from being on the road for three weeks. It was an epic journey, to be sure, but a grind all the same. It was 90 degrees on St. Petersburg beach in Florida and I was sweating like a goat on Saturday. I come home on Sunday to temps in the 30s with snow on the ground and in the forecast. That’s okay. I have coats.
It was hard to drink enough water in St. Pete because the water tasted so bad. I drank too much coffee because it was the only way I could flavor it enough to take the edge off that stagnant sewage runoff taste…
Yes. It was that bad.
But I’m home where the water is crystal clear and tastes like the fall’s fleeting sunshine.
So many good things are coming over the next three months. The culmination of a year’s worth of work is right in front of us. Scroll down to see what we have coming.

Operation Brushfire, from my friend and all-star author Rhett Bruno is on sale for 99 cents
“A dynamic tale filled with shocking action, devious subterfuge, and compelling characters.”–Jonathan Maberry, NY Times bestselling author of Relentless and V-Wars
He’ll do anything for the truth. They’ll do anything to bury it.
Science Fiction. Alternate History. Near future thriller. The right balance of the stuff that keeps you reading.

Egypt, a full-color exploration of the magic of the country’s history
Only $2.99 (because the file is so big from the nearly 200 pictures Amazon wouldn’t let us price it any lower). If you read on a Kindle Fire, your phone, or your computer through a browser (read.amazon.com) you’ll get all the pictures in full-color. That is worth the price of admission alone, puls it’s in Kindle Unlimited – access it and browse as part of your subscription.
Egypt as you’ve not seen it before…
…we were the first tour after Egypt opened post-Covid and were able to get some of the best pictures of Egypt’s archaeology, ancient structures, museums, landscape, and more.

End Days #5, Beyond Alpha – fans of End Days, you wanted more, you’re getting more. The rest of the story is coming. Back from the editor, back from the proofreaders. All is well. They really liked it. And E.E. tells me that he has the plot for book six ready…
Battleship: Leviathan (only 99 cents right now – you should probably grab it)
A derelict warship left behind by the ancients, a doomsday weapon whose goal is to bring peace…
“Excellent story! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Very nice balance of action, humor and serious, thought-provoking topics. The characters were all engaging and memorable. The pace was excellent. The story was fun and very entertaining.”
“Wow, just wow! What a ride. Edge of your seat action – start to finish.”
“Fantastic action kept the pace fast. The character interaction was fun, insightful, and real. Hate to see the end of the series.”
“Fantastic close out. I really want to know what happens next and so will your readers.”
Battleship: Leviathan – October 5th (https://geni.us/BL01)
Leviathan’s War – November 2nd (https://geni.us/BL02)
Leviathan’s Last Battle – December 7th (https://geni.us/BL03)
Not Enough Book #1, Echo Breaker, a coming of age fantasy. This balances well for readers of all ages, but especially for those who are growing up and wondering what their place is. A little something for every reader. Books #1 and #2 are written and off to the editor. Here are the final covers for the series. I’m 58 years old, and I thought this was a great story (I’m sure I”m biased but a good story is a good story).
Echo Breaker – October 18th (https://geni.us/NotEnough1)
Echo Chaser – November 2nd (https://geni.us/NotEnough2)
Echo Ender – December 13th (pre-order not quite ready)
Shadow Vanguard 6 – Family Reunion
Tommy D’s (God rest his soul) final book. I only have about forty pages left to rewrite and am making great progress. I could be finished with this in just a few days. Coming in October – look for Family Reunion. Pre-order should go up any day now.
Ian Bragg 4 – A Fatal Bragg
The Marines are under fire…
…and it takes someone outside the government to fix the problem.
Ian and Jenny Bragg return in this standalone suspense action adventure. It’s a race against the clock and a group that’s been in place for years…
Coming November 26th.
A Fatal Bragg – https://geni.us/IanBragg4
Zenophobia – the trilogy. Anthropomorphic space opera: Think Island of Dr. Moreau in space without the horror, just a search for truth. As soon as I have the second book in hand, I’ll put this one up for pre-order.
Coming October 25th.
Glory – An epic military science fiction tale. We’re at 100k words and winding down with an earth-shaking climactic battle in Book #1. Glory will publish this year. Books #2 and #3 will probably push to next year, but did I tell you that it’s epic? One old ship, barely out of mothballs, little better than scrap, challenged with nothing less than defeating a superior alien enemy. But it carries a secret the aliens don’t know and may not be ready for. Only one shot to save humanity.
Coming November 22nd (don’t quite have it in hand yet, so i’m not going to put it up for pre-order, but that should happen fairly soon).
I have a short story in a Baen anthology called No Time for Knights coming this fall – a little Sci-Fi Noir. A washed-up cop in an America taken over by AI.
After you’ve read this far… I have started writing JJE14 – Jack the Ripper.
Rivka will match wits with one attempting to bring back the terror of the infamous killer from the 1800s. I’m looking to finish this one by the end of October to publish in December to coincide with the release of Rivka’s third box set containing books 9-12.
